What Does Niacin Do? |
Niacin is also known as vitaminB3. It is water soluble in nature and is extremely effective in preventing a deficiency called pellagra. Pellagra is manifested by various terrible symptoms like: mental disorders and skin diseases. Though deficiency of niacin is rare but it is mainly found in undernourished and undeveloped portions of the world. Niacin is naturally found in beef, many vegetables, nuts, seeds, poultry and some of the fungi. Its supplements are also available in various vitamins and drug stores. Niacin works in maintaining perfect functioning of our nervous system, digestive system and skin. It is also known for reducing bad cholesterol levels and increasing the good cholesterol in the body. Processes like cell repair and metabolism are also regulated with the help of this vitamin. Triglyceride levels in the blood can be reduced successfully with regular consumption of niacin.
