Can Supplements Make Your Stomach Upset?

Supplements are very much helpful for human to supply nutrients which includes minerals, vitamins, fiber, amino acids and fatty acids.  Generally these supplements do well for your health, but at times they may cause stomach upset.  The level of stomach upset can range from light nausea to a worst heartburn. If you consume too many vitamin supplements at a time then it will cause some serious problems like stomach upset. If you are taking multivitamin then you have to check the ingredients for the amount of iron. The main reason for stomach upset and nausea while consuming supplements is iron so, you have to check for iron content. Sometimes excess amount of iron cause heart disease.  If you are iron deficient then take it with food and not try through supplements.

One of the ways to avoid stomach upset while consuming supplements is; don’t consume vitamin supplements at bedtime. It’s better to take the supplements in divided dose. You should have to wait for minimum of 30 minutes before reclining after consuming supplements. It’s better to separate the dose as three times a day to avoid stomach upset. If you take supplements on an empty stomach then it increase the risk of stomach upset. It’s better to take supplements after a meal.
