What are Supplements?

Supplements are products that are consumed as an add-on to the normal food we intake in our day to day lives. These are available in many forms are act as a replacement or addition to the vitamins and minerals needed for our body. Supplements contain a rich set of vitamins and minerals.

Supplements are available in many forms these days. These come as pills, powders, tablets and even in the liquid form. There are many manufacturers of supplements and these differ from drugs in many ways though both have almost same effect on the body i.e., they give energy to the body when consumed. Remember that supplements are in no way a total replacement for the food we eat. As the name says, these are only the supplements to get additional vitamins for the body.

Supplements can be taken by anybody and helps especially for those whose energy gets consumed faster, those who do not eat well, children, aged people, and whoever who wishes to be enthusiastic and energetic. Vitamin supplements have almost no side effects on the body and its functioning. Supplements are also consumed in cases of emergency, scarcity of quality food and by people who work more physically and who needs strength to keep their body fit for the work they do.

As there are many number of forms of supplements, there are also many number of product manufacturers and once needs to choose carefully on the type of supplement they need to take, the result the company promises and the dose prescribed by your doctor. It is always suggested that you take the advice of a physician or doctor before you start consuming supplements.
