Does Vitamin C Really Help with Colds?

Yes, vitamin C helps with colds. The reason for the affirmative answer is that since vitamin C is an antioxidant, it fights free radicals and thus reduces the chances of infections entering your body. If you get the required level of nourishment with vitamin C, you will have the immunity to fight cold. Common cold is generally caused by allergy or viruses. With regular intake of food items rich in vitamin C, you can reduce the chances of catching cold.

Other than consuming foods rich in vitamin C, many people also reach out for vitamin C supplements and when they have cold or when they require prevention from cold. However, studies are still being conducted on this topic and there are no evidences found yet which strongly recommend vitamin C for preventing and fighting cold.
